Dr.Emdad Ullah, 56, senior consultant of Department of Dermatology and Sex at Barishal General Hospital, died at 5:35 pm on Friday afternoon while receiving treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Corona Isolation Unit (CIU) of Barishal She E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Dr.Bakir Hossain, director of the hospital, said he was admitted at Corona unit of the hospital on Thursday afternoon with corona symptoms.
His condition was being rapidly deteriorated, his oxygen saturation decreased and he was transferred to the ICU, where he died while receiving treatment there.
He confirmed that Dr. Emdad was a corona infected patient.
Family sources Dr. Emdad left his wife Dr. Farzana Yasmin, ultrasonography expert of Barishal Islami Bank Hospital, two sons and a daughter.
His brother Dr. Abdullah is managing director of Metropolitan Dental Clinic, at Elephant Road Dhaka.
Meanwhile, a total of 4 people died in the last 24 hours in the Corona Isolation Unit of SBMCH.
Besides Dr. Emdad, among the other three Enamul Haque, 8, of Faridpur Union in Bakerganj, died at 8:30 am on Friday morning. Shamima, 36, of Raipasha Union of Barishal Sadar Upazila died at 2.20 pm on Friday.
Barek Rari, 55, of Baishari Union of Banaripara Upazila died at 2.05 AM on Friday.
Hospital director Bakir Hossain said we have not received their corona testing report yet. ##
