A woman named Rashida Begum (50) died after being electrocuted by the rat killing electric trap in
Ahmedkathi village of Khanjapur union of Gournadi upazila under Barishal district.
She is the wife of Sohrab Mir, a farmer of that village.
According to locals and police, Sohrab Mir a farmer of Ahmedkathi village set an electric trap to kill rats
on Tuesday night in Boro paddy field near his house.
Around 6 am on Wednesday, Sohrab’s wife Rashida Begum went to the garden next to the paddy field
to collect gourds.
At that time Rashida got seriously injured due to electrocution. Then Rashida was rescued by the locals
and taken to Gournadi Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Gournadi Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain said after inspecting the spot, the body was
allowed to be buried without post-mortem as there was no complaint from the family.
A general diary of unnatural death has been made with the police station in this connection. ##
